Dhurandhar Opens well But Still Behind Saiyaara And Animal
Aditya Dhar and Ranveer Singh have teamed up for the first time in their new spy thriller Dhurandhar, releasing in theatres this Friday. The movie has a big star cast and its trailer got a lot of praise. Because of this, the film created good buzz and had fast early bookings at first. But in the last two days, the advance bookings have slowed down. Some people think the controversies around the film may be affecting it. Still, trade experts feel the movie has a good chance, though they are now predicting more carefully.
Advance Booking Update
- Bookings opened on Monday.
- The film quickly crossed ₹1 crore in advance sales.
- After that, bookings slowed.
- By Wednesday 2 pm, Dhurandhar had collected ₹2.28 crore in advance for Day 1 with around 50,000 tickets sold across India.
- More shows will open on Wednesday and Thursday, so numbers may increase, but right now the advance booking is considered weak.
Box Office Prediction
A few weeks ago, people expected Dhurandhar to score the biggest Hindi film opening of the year, even beating Chhaava and War 2 (Hindi).
But now, a ₹25 crore+ opening looks difficult.
Trade experts now expect:
- ₹18–20 crore opening day collection in India
- Some say it may even open around ₹15 crore
It will not be able to beat this year’s top openers:
- Saiyaara – ₹21.50 crore
- Chhaava – ₹31 crore
Ranbir Kapoor’s Animal is still much ahead with a massive ₹64 crore opening in 2023.
About the Film
Dhurandhar is set in Lyari, a gangster area in Pakistan.
The film stars Ranveer Singh, Arjun Rampal, Sanjay Dutt, R Madhavan, and Akshaye Khanna.
It will release on 5,000 screens across India on December 5.
