“SRK Aimed To break South Asian Stereotypes At Met Gala”

Shah Rukh Khan made history by walking the blue carpet at the Met Gala 2025 in New York. It was his first time at this famous fashion event, and he became one of the biggest Indian stars to attend. Dressed in a stunning black outfit designed by Sabyasachi Mukherjee, SRK stood out with his signature pose and royal style.

In an interview with The New York Times, Shah Rukh said he joined the Met Gala to change how the West views South Asian actors. He said, “The West still sees you as this exotic, comic type. I wanted to show something different.” His bold appearance was a way to fight those old stereotypes.

SRK wore a long black coat made of superfine wool with stylish buttons, a silk shirt, and tailored trousers. His look was completed with a satin kamarbandh and a walking stick shaped like a tiger’s head made of gold, diamonds, and sapphires. Despite usually preferring jeans and t-shirts, he told Sabyasachi only one thing: “No shoulder pads that make me look like an airplane!”

This year’s Met Gala theme was “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style.”
