Jasbir Jassi Defends Diljit Over Casting Row

Diljit Dosanjh is getting trolled online for working with Pakistani actress Hania Aamir in his new film Sardaar Ji 3. Many are upset due to ongoing tensions between India and Pakistan.
Punjabi singer Jasbir Jassi has now spoken in support of Diljit. In a recent interview, he questioned why people are being unfair and showing double standards.
Jasbir said, “I understand that people love their country and don’t want Pakistani actors in Indian films. But if you feel that way, then why keep using Pakistani songs in our movies? Many of our film songs have been copied from Pakistani music or even sung by Pakistani artists. So why just target one artist like Diljit?”
He added, “If you truly want to boycott Pakistani artists, then remove all their songs and content from platforms like YouTube and Spotify. You can’t enjoy their music and then protest against them too. That’s not fair.”
Sardaar Ji 3 also stars Neeru Bajwa but is not releasing in India—it will release overseas on June 27. The backlash comes after recent terror attacks and tensions between India and Pakistan.
Some film industry groups have even called for Diljit to be banned. Meanwhile, singer Mika Singh has said that Diljit should apologise.
Despite the controversy, Jasbir Jassi is asking everyone to stop blaming artists for cross-border collaborations and focus on fairness.
