Konkona Sen Sharma On Working With Mom & Nepotism

Actor Konkona Sen Sharma recently spoke about her experience working with her mother, filmmaker Aparna Sen, and shared her thoughts on nepotism in the film industry. In an interview with Zoom, Konkona said she feels lucky and privileged but never planned to become an actor.

She shared, “I had the best kind of nepotism in a way. I was lucky. My mother never planned to launch me. I didn’t even want to become an actor.”

Konkona also spoke about her famous film Mr and Mrs Iyer, written by her mother. Aparna Sen used to write the script in Konkona’s room and noticed her expressions while reading it aloud. That’s how she got the role. Konkona said, “I got to do Mr and Mrs Iyer as my third film. I know it’s not fair for everyone, but nepotism happens everywhere. I always acknowledge my luck.”

Konkona and her mom have worked on many films together like Titli, 15 Park Avenue, and Iti Mrinalini. Konkona started acting in 2001 and has starred in hit movies like Page 3, Omkara, Life in a Metro, Wake Up Sid, and Lipstick Under My Burkha.

She was last seen in Metro In Dino, directed by Anurag Basu, alongside Sara Ali Khan, Aditya Roy Kapur, and others.
