Filmmaker Amar Kaushik has spoken about whether Alia Bhatt will join the Maddock Horror Comedy Universe (MHCU) with his upcoming film Chamunda. In a chat with Filmfare, Amar said he isn’t “denying or accepting anything right now.” He added that the MHCU team doesn’t create stories based on actors.
When asked about Alia’s involvement, Amar said, “Everything is on the timeline. When it happens, everyone will know. We focus on the story first and then think about casting. We don’t write scripts based on the cast.”
Talking about the future of MHCU, Amar shared that the goal is to raise the bar with every new film. “We make these movies for the audience. If we go wrong, they can tell us through Instagram or any other platform. We just want to stay honest and make genuine films like Stree,” he said.
The Maddock Horror Comedy Universe started with Stree and later included Bhediya, Munjya, Stree 2, and Thamma. The next movies in the franchise are Shakti Shalini, starring Aneet Padda, and Bhediya 2, featuring Varun Dhawan.
Meanwhile, Alia Bhatt will next appear in Alpha, an action thriller directed by Shiv Rawail. She plays a commanding officer in an elite all-women combat unit alongside Sharvari Wagh. The film is part of the YRF Spy Universe and releases on December 25.
