The Indian film industry is still mourning the loss of legendary actor Dharmendra, who passed away on November 24. Fans, stars, and colleagues have been sharing emotional tributes for the beloved actor. Now, Ameesha Patel has spoken about visiting him in the hospital earlier this month and shared how emotional the situation was.
Ameesha, who is close to the Deol family, could not attend Dharmendra’s last rites because she was in New York. She told News18 that she hasn’t reached out to the family yet because they are already under great emotional stress. She said she doesn’t want to disturb them during this difficult time and believes they need privacy to cope with the loss.
Earlier in the month, when Dharmendra was admitted to the hospital, several stars visited him, including Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan, Aamir Khan, Govinda, and Ameesha Patel.
Ameesha recalled that the atmosphere in the hospital was very tense. Dharmendra was in critical condition, and the family needed space. She said that she, Shah Rukh, and Salman all visited only for a few minutes, mainly to hug Sunny Deol, who was extremely emotional. She added that Sunny was heartbroken because Dharmendra was the person he loved the most.
Dharmendra was admitted to Breach Candy Hospital due to health issues. On November 10, false reports claimed he had died, but Hema Malini and Esha Deol confirmed he was recovering. He was later taken home, where he continued treatment.
Sadly, on November 24, Dharmendra passed away at his Juhu home at the age of 89.
He is survived by his wives Prakash Kaur and Hema Malini, and his six children, including Sunny Deol, Bobby Deol, and Esha Deol. Many stars like Amitabh Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan, Rajinikanth, Allu Arjun, and Priyanka Chopra mourned his death online.
Dharmendra’s last film, Ikkis, will release on December 25, where he plays the father of Agastya Nanda. The film is directed by Sriram Raghavan and also stars Jaideep Ahlawat.
