The Delhi High Court has given hope to the family of Major (Retd.) Vikrant Kumar Jaitly, who has been detained in the UAE for over a year. His sister, former actor Celina Jaitly, shared an emotional message on social media after the court asked the Government of India to submit a status report and appointed a special officer to help the family.
Celina requested the Indian government to help bring her brother back home. Her lawyer called the court’s decision a positive step and said they hope this will lead to Major Vikrant’s return to India soon.
Celina shared pictures of her brother and wrote that after 14 long months, she finally sees hope. She said she trusts the Indian government to support a soldier who has served the nation with courage. She added that her brother belongs to a family of four generations of soldiers and has dedicated his life to the country.
The Delhi High Court said:
Celina also said that many Indian soldiers abroad face similar challenges and requested the government to protect them. She hopes her brother will soon return safely.
