Veteran Bollywood actor Dharmendra has been summoned by the Patiala House Court in Delhi in a case related to alleged cheating involving the Garam Dharam Dhaba franchise. The complaint, filed by businessman Sushil Kumar, accuses Dharmendra and two others of luring him into investing ₹63 lakh under false promises.
The court, led by Judicial Magistrate Yashdeep Chahal, found enough evidence to summon the accused under sections 420 (cheating), 120B (criminal conspiracy), and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the IPC. The next hearing is set for February 20, 2025.
The complainant claimed he was promised a profitable franchise near NH-24/9 in Uttar Pradesh, with projected monthly turnovers of ₹70-80 lakh. However, after paying an advance and buying land, the promised assistance never materialized. Repeated attempts to contact the accused allegedly resulted in threats.
Police initially called the matter a civil dispute, but the court later took cognizance of the complaint, leading to the current summons.
