Fans got super excited when the teaser of Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi dropped, showing Smriti Irani back as Tulsi Virani in a classic maroon saree and big red bindi. But did you know? Ekta Kapoor, the creator of the show, first said NO to the reboot!
Ekta recently shared a heartfelt note, explaining why she changed her mind. She said when the idea came up for the 25th anniversary, she didn’t want to mess with memories. “You can’t compete with nostalgia,” she said.
But then she remembered what the show stood for. Between 2000–2005, Kyunki and Kahaani Ghar Ghar Ki helped women take part in family talks, making Indian TV a tool for real change.
So she asked herself—could a new Kyunki focus on powerful stories, not just TRP ratings? Could it talk about parenting, family, emotions, and social issues again? Her answer: YES!
Ekta said the reboot will have limited episodes, meant to entertain, start conversations, and inspire viewers. She wants it to be relatable, inclusive, and full of emotions—without being too preachy.
The reboot is not just about reliving the past, but about creating impact again.
