Fans Bid Final Goodbye To Assam’s Beloved Zubeen Garg

Guwahati came to a standstill as thousands of fans gathered to say their final goodbye to Zubeen Garg, the beloved singer and cultural icon of Assam. Streets were filled with people carrying flowers, chanting his name, and singing his songs as his final journey passed through the city.

From children to elders, everyone joined in grief, showing how deeply Zubeen had touched lives across generations. People climbed rooftops and stood by the roads, making sure they could be part of this emotional farewell.

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma shared photos of the massive crowd on social media, calling it “a sea of humanity” that came together to honor their favorite son. Fans also expressed their wish to build a museum or memorial in his name.

Zubeen Garg tragically passed away in Singapore on September 19 in a scuba diving accident. He was there to perform at the North East India Festival.

Known as the “Jewel of Assam,” Zubeen was more than just a singer. He was a cultural ambassador who connected people with his music in Assamese, Hindi, and Bengali. His famous song Ya Ali from the film Gangster made him a household name across India.

Even though he is no longer here, his melodies and legacy will live on forever in the hearts of millions.
