Homebound Wins Big At Melbourne Film Fest 2025

At the Indian Film Festival of Melbourne 2025, filmmaker Neeraj Ghaywan’s emotional drama Homebound took home the top awards — Best Film and Best Director.

The movie, starring Ishaan Khatter, Vishal Jetwa, and Janhvi Kapoor, tells a touching story about belonging, displacement, and the feelings that come with returning home. It will also be the closing film of the festival on August 24.

The awards night also celebrated Bollywood legend Aamir Khan, who received the Excellence in Cinema Award for his decades of work in the film industry. He thanked his writers, directors, co-stars, and audiences for supporting his journey.

Abhishek Bachchan won Best Actor for his role in Shoojit Sircar’s I Want to Talk. Geetha Kailasam bagged Best Actress for Angammal, which also won Best Indie Film.

The night highlighted the power of Indian cinema and its global recognition.
