After five years of legal disputes, actor Kangana Ranaut and lyricist Javed Akhtar have finally settled their defamation cases. Kangana shared the news on Instagram with a happy picture, saying, “Today Javed ji and I have resolved our legal matter through mediation. Javed ji has been very kind and gracious, and he even agreed to write songs for my next directorial.”
Their legal fight started in 2020 when Kangana mentioned Javed Akhtar in an interview after the death of actor Sushant Singh Rajput. She claimed that Akhtar pressured her to apologize to actor Hrithik Roshan, with whom she had a public dispute in 2016. According to Kangana, Javed warned her of severe consequences if she didn’t apologize. In response, Javed filed a defamation case, calling her statements false.
After years of court battles, they have now made peace through mediation.
