“Laapataa Ladies Competes For Best Intl. Film At Japan Academy”

Kiran Rao’s Laapataa Ladies has made its mark internationally! While the film didn’t get an Oscar nomination, it’s now up for the Best International Film award at the Japan Academy Film Prize 2024. The movie, which had a successful 100-day run in Japan last year, is competing against big films like Oppenheimer, Poor Things, The Zone of Interest, and Civil War. The winner will be revealed on March 14.

About the Film
Laapataa Ladies tells the story of two brides swapped during a train journey. Directed by Kiran Rao and produced by Aamir Khan, the film stars Nitanshi Goel, Pratibha Ranta, Sparsh Shrivastava, and Ravi Kishan.

Though the film didn’t make it to the Oscars shortlist, the team expressed gratitude for the ongoing support. It’s now available for streaming on Netflix.
