“Mukesh Khanna Questions Ranbir As Lord Ram”

Veteran actor Mukesh Khanna has shared his doubts about Ranbir Kapoor playing Lord Ram in the upcoming Ramayana adaptation. He believes Ranbir’s image from his recent film Animal, where his character had a negative shade, could impact how the audience views him in this role.

In an interview, Mukesh said, “If they are making a Ramayana, comparisons with Arun Govil (who played Ram in the TV series) are inevitable. Whoever plays Ram shouldn’t look like Raavan.” He added that an actor playing Ram should have a clean, virtuous image and avoid behaviors like partying and drinking.

Citing Prabhas’ role in Adipurush, Mukesh pointed out, “Despite being a star, he wasn’t accepted as Ram because he didn’t fit the look. Ranbir is a fine actor, but his image in Animal might overshadow the essence of Lord Ram. I hope that doesn’t happen.”

About the Film

The Ramayana will star Sai Pallavi as Sita, Yash as Raavan, Lara Dutta as Kaikeyi, Sunny Deol as Hanuman, and Sheeba Chaddha as Manthara. Directed by Nitesh Tiwari, the film will release in two parts: Part One in 2026 and Part Two in 2027.

Ranbir Kapoor, speaking about his role, said, “It’s India’s greatest story, and I’m grateful for this opportunity. We’ve completed Part One and will shoot Part Two soon.”
