Actor Nana Patekar, through his NGO Nirmala Gajanan Foundation, has provided relief worth ₹42 lakh to 117 families in Rajouri and Poonch districts of Jammu and Kashmir. These families were badly affected by Pakistani shelling during Operation Sindoor. The initiative was carried out in partnership with the Indian Army and the local administration.
During his visit to Rajouri on September 22, Nana personally handed over aid to the families. Speaking to the media, he said, “It is our responsibility to help when such incidents happen. These people are our brothers and sisters. We haven’t done them a favor—this is what everyone should do.”
The actor also praised fellow actor Johnny Lever for his silent charitable work, noting that many in the film industry help without seeking publicity. He added, “The government has done a lot, but we should not depend only on them. We too must do our part. I feel satisfied when I can bring happiness to someone.”
The Nirmala Gajanan Foundation, named after Nana’s parents, has been actively working in education and healthcare across India. With the support of the Indian Army, the foundation is now helping border residents rebuild their lives after the devastating shelling.
