Papon Excited For New Ghazal Album After Metro In Dino Success

Singer-songwriter Papon is happy that his passion for ghazals is finally getting noticed, especially through Bollywood. His songs in the recent film Metro In Dino — like Qayde Se, Yaad, and Zamana Lage – Mood Shift — have received great reviews for mixing the deep emotion of traditional ghazals with a modern sound.

Papon said he was surprised by how strongly people connected with the songs. “It’s been overwhelming in the best way,” he said. “It shows there’s still a place for this kind of music today.”

The songs, composed by Pritam and written by Sayeed Quadri, are special not just for their lyrics, but also because of the calm intensity Papon brings to each line — something fans of ghazals really appreciate.

For Papon, who is from Assam, ghazals have always been close to his heart.

Beyond films, Papon has also kept ghazals alive through live concerts.
