Paresh Rawal: National Awards Also Lobby, But Less Than Oscars

Actor Paresh Rawal recently shared his honest thoughts about film awards. He said that even the respected National Awards are not completely free from lobbying. However, he believes the lobbying is much less compared to other awards, including the Oscars.

Paresh spoke during a podcast with Raj Shamani. He mentioned that awards don’t matter to him as much as appreciation from directors and writers. For him, real praise comes from people he works with, not trophies.

He explained that lobbying happens through influence, connections, and even parties arranged to impress award voters. According to him, this isn’t only in India — the Oscars also see lobbying.

Paresh Rawal won the National Award in 1993 for Best Supporting Actor. Recently, he appeared as a tour guide in the film The Taj Story, where his character questions the history of the Taj Mahal. He also starred in the horror-comedy Thamma with Ayushmann Khurrana and Rashmika Mandanna. Next, fans will see him in Hera Pheri 3, Bhooth Bangla, and Welcome To The Jungle.
