“Payal Kapadia Gets DGA Nod After Golden Globes Snub”

Payal Kapadia, director of All We Imagine As Light, has been nominated for Best First-Time Director at the 2025 Directors Guild of America (DGA) Awards. This comes shortly after she missed out on the Golden Globe for Best Director to Brady Corbet.

Kapadia’s debut feature, All We Imagine As Light, won the prestigious Cannes Grand Prix in 2024 and has gained global recognition. The film tells the story of love and loneliness through the lives of three women in Mumbai. Kapadia, a graduate of FTII, is also known for her short film Afternoon Clouds (2017) and documentary A Night of Knowing Nothing (2021).
