“Priyanka’s Mom On Bareilly’s Reaction To Miss World Win”

In 2000, Priyanka Chopra won the Miss India title and later became Miss World. Her mother, Madhu Chopra, recently shared how tough it was for them after the win. In an interview with Lehren TV, Madhu revealed that they did not receive a warm welcome in their hometown, Bareilly.

Madhu said, “When we reached Bareilly, the response was not kind. Some people called it ‘naari shoshan’ (female exploitation) and did not accept her victory. They believed that a winner should be celebrated in their hometown, but they refused to do so.”

She also shared that they were upset because they had planned a celebration in Bareilly, even getting permission from the Chief Minister. However, the event was canceled, citing law and order issues.

Despite the challenges, Priyanka continued her journey and became a global star. Last year, she visited the spot in London where she was crowned Miss World. She is now set to appear in SS Rajamouli’s next film with Mahesh Babu and in the Hollywood movie ‘Heads of State’ with Idris Elba and John Cena.
