It’s official! Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s Animal is coming back to theaters, two years after its first release. This time, it will release in Japan, where Indian films have become very popular. The makers announced on social media that Animal, starring Ranbir Kapoor, will hit Japanese theaters on February 13, 2026.
Animal originally released in December 2023 and was a huge hit, earning ₹553 crore in India and ₹915 crore worldwide, becoming the 9th-highest-grossing Indian film ever. With its Japanese release, it now has a chance to cross the ₹1000-crore mark.
Ranveer Singh’s Dhurandhar is expected to surpass Animal soon and may end up earning ₹1000–1100 crore worldwide. But the makers of Animal hope the Japan release can help it reclaim a top spot. Indian films like RRR and KGF Chapter 2 have done very well in Japan, so Animal could also earn big there.
The film stars Ranbir Kapoor, Anil Kapoor, Rashmika Mandanna, Bobby Deol, and Triptii Dimri. It was controversial for its violence and portrayal of women, but the director says it was part of creative freedom.
