Rashmika Mandanna, a rising star in Indian cinema, has delivered back-to-back blockbusters in recent years. After starring alongside Ranbir Kapoor in Animal (2023) and reprising her role as Srivalli in Pushpa 2: The Rule (2024) with Allu Arjun, fans had high hopes for her next project. This time, she’s pairing up with Vicky Kaushal in the historical drama Chhaava.
While Vicky Kaushal’s intense look as Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj impressed fans last year, Rashmika’s first look as Maharani Yesubai has received mixed reviews. Her royal look, featuring traditional jewelry, a pallu, a bold red bindi, and a Marathi nath, sparked a lot of debate online.
Some social media users felt Rashmika didn’t fit the role, calling her a “miscast.” One user commented, “She looks like Srivalli in a Maharashtrian saree.” Another suggested that actors like Mrunal Thakur or Kriti Sanon would have suited the role better.
However, others defended Rashmika, hoping her performance would prove critics wrong. A fan wrote, “It’s too early to judge—let’s see how she portrays the character.”
With its February 14 release, fans are curious to see how Rashmika and Vicky’s fresh pairing unfolds on the big screen.
