The Filmfare Awards took place in Ahmedabad last weekend, celebrating the best Hindi films of 2024. Laapataa Ladies bagged the Best Film award along with 12 other trophies. Abhishek Bachchan and Kartik Aaryan shared the Best Actor award, while Alia Bhatt won Best Actress.
However, The Kerala Story director Sudipto Sen strongly criticized the awards, calling them a “tamasha in the name of cinema.”
What Sudipto Said
On Instagram, Sudipto shared a note saying that Filmfare awarded “a blatantly plagiarised film” and other movies that didn’t perform well at the box office. He expressed disappointment, claiming that genuine work was ignored.
He further wrote, “At least we are saved from this hypocrisy and fake glamour in the name of cinema.
