Actor Yami Gautam is ready for the release of her new film Haq. The movie is inspired by the famous Shah Bano case. Talking about the film, Yami shared that Haq did not face any censorship cuts in the UAE. She also said that the film has a 15+ rating, which means even teenagers can watch it.
Yami explained that the film does not target or hurt any religion. She said, “If the UAE has no problem with the film, that shows Haq is not made to go against any faith.” She added that the movie is not about just one community and aims to present the story fairly.
Haq is a courtroom drama directed by Suparn Varma. It tells the story based on the real-life legal battle of Shah Bano, who fought for her right to maintenance after divorce. The Supreme Court later ruled that Muslim women are also entitled to maintenance under the law.
The film stars Yami Gautam as Shazia Bano and Emraan Hashmi as her lawyer husband Abbas Khan. It also features Sheeba Chaddha and Vartika Singh.
