Actors Akshay Kumar and Arshad Warsi, along with director Subhash Kapoor, have been summoned by a Pune civil court for allegedly disrespecting the judiciary in their upcoming film Jolly LLB 3.
The summons came after lawyer Wajed Rahim Khan filed a petition, claiming the movie makes fun of the legal system and shows court proceedings in a negative way. He also raised an objection to a scene where judges are called “mama,” which he said is disrespectful.
Speaking about the complaint, Khan said, “There should be respect for lawyers and judges. That’s why I filed the petition. The court has asked Akshay Kumar, Arshad Warsi, and the director to appear in person.”
The petition was first filed after the film’s teaser was released, which gave audiences a look at the clash between the two Jollys, played by Akshay and Arshad.
The Jolly LLB series is a popular legal comedy franchise. The first film, starring Arshad Warsi, was a sleeper hit in 2013. The sequel, led by Akshay Kumar, became a superhit and earned over ₹200 crore worldwide.
