Actor Athiya Shetty was full of pride as her husband, cricketer KL Rahul, scored his first Test century on home soil in Ahmedabad after nine long years.
Athiya shared a picture of Rahul’s celebration on Instagram and wrote a sweet caption: “The best for his best.” The post quickly caught fans’ attention, adding to the excitement around Rahul’s achievement.
Rahul played a strong knock, scoring 100 runs off 197 balls with 12 fours before getting dismissed just after lunch by Jomel Warrican. He marked the moment with a fresh celebration – raising his bat and giving a playful whistle gesture.
This was a special milestone for Rahul. His last century in India came in 2016 against England in Chennai. The gap of 3,211 days between two home centuries is the longest for any Indian batter.
This year has been Rahul’s best in Test cricket. In just seven matches and 13 innings, he has scored 649 runs, including three centuries and two fifties, with an average of over 54. His top score this year has been 137.
