Actor couple Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai have reportedly filed a lawsuit against YouTube and Google over AI-generated deepfake videos. According to a Reuters report, they are seeking $450,000 (around ₹4 crore) in damages and a permanent ban on such fake content.
The couple submitted hundreds of links and screenshots of YouTube videos that they say show fake, explicit, or misleading AI content. Their filings also raise concerns about YouTube’s policies that allow videos to be used to train other AI models, which could make fake content spread even faster.
They argued that if AI systems learn from biased or fake material, it could damage their reputation and keep multiplying false content about them.
The Delhi High Court has asked Google’s lawyer to file a written response, with the next hearing scheduled for January 15.
Aishwarya Rai was last seen in Ponniyin Selvan: II (2023), directed by Mani Ratnam. She has not yet announced her next film.
Abhishek Bachchan was last seen in Kaalidhar Laapata, starring alongside Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub and Daivik Bhagela. He will next appear in King, directed by Siddharth Anand, alongside Shah Rukh Khan and Suhana Khan.
