Days after the CBI filed a closure report in Sushant Singh Rajput’s death case, his friend and actress Krissann Barretto opened up about how speaking about him affected her career. Sushant’s sudden death in June 2020 shocked the entertainment industry. While many mourned him, some were accused of seeking attention.
Speaking on Shardul Pandit’s podcast Uncensored, Krissann said, “In India, actors are not allowed to grieve. If we post about a friend’s death, people assume we are doing it for attention. No one thinks our emotions are real.”
She revealed that talking about Sushant and the investigation had serious consequences for her. “I risked my career and even my life. My parents were furious, and my friends told me to stop. But I couldn’t stay silent. I lost work, and many doors closed on me,” she said.
Sushant, a successful TV and film star, died by suicide at his Mumbai home at 34. His death led to multiple investigations, with his girlfriend, Rhea Chakraborty, facing allegations. Rhea and her brother Showik were arrested but later cleared of all charges. Now, many celebrities are calling for an apology to Rhea for the ordeal she faced.
