The release of Ajay Devgn and Mrunal Thakur’s Son of Sardaar 2 was moved from July 25 to August 1. This change happened soon after Saiyaara, released on July 18, became a surprise blockbuster with a huge opening.
Speaking to Instant Bollywood, Mrunal addressed the rumours that the shift was due to Saiyaara’s success. She explained that the team wanted the film to “breathe” in theatres. “If a film like this is doing well, we want it to get all the love and recognition it deserves. Why not celebrate Saiyaara? Let’s give it the screens it needs,” she said.
Mrunal also shared her happiness for the team of Saiyaara. “I haven’t watched it yet because of promotions, but it’s on my list. People think we got scared, but no—we’re supporting a film that’s doing well. I’m so happy to see Bollywood films succeed, especially with newcomers. This opening is massive! I’m proud of Ahaan and Aneet. Welcome to cinemas!”

Directed by Mohit Suri and produced by YRF CEO Akshaye Widhani, the film tells the story of musician Krish Kapoor (Ahaan) and aspiring journalist-poet Vaani Batra (Aneet). As they work together, they fall in love. The film has already crossed ₹300 crore at the Indian box office.
