Bhojpuri superstar Dinesh Lal Yadav, popularly known as Nirahua, recently shared his unforgettable experience working with Bollywood legends Amitabh Bachchan and Jaya Bachchan in the 2012 film Ganga Devi on Siddharth Kannan’s podcast.
Nirahua said he was nervous to meet the Bachchans. “For me, they are like god. I didn’t know how to react when I saw them. But Amitabh Bachchan noticed my nervousness and cracked jokes to make me feel comfortable,” he said. Big B even shared advice about politics, telling Nirahua not to follow that path, easing the atmosphere on set.
His experience with Jaya Bachchan was more intense. Nirahua recalled a scene where he had to slap his on-screen wife, and Jaya ji, playing his mother, actually hit him with a stick. “She hit me hard! She is very short-tempered,” he laughed. He added that he considered it a blessing, as few people get the chance to work with both legends together.
The film Ganga Devi was directed by Amitabh’s make-up artist Deepak Sawant, and it marked the second collaboration of Amitabh and Jaya after Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham (2001).
