Bollywood actress Parineeti Chopra recently shared behind-the-scenes stories from the film Amar Singh Chamkila in her vlog, along with pictures and videos. She talked about singing live with Diljit Dosanjh, emotional scenes, and funny moments on set.
Parineeti revealed that unlike usual films, they sang live on camera instead of lip-syncing. “We never dubbed in a studio. It was hard but exciting,” she said. She also shared a funny moment with Diljit: “He said, ‘You become Rihanna,’ and I tried to act cool, but it was a flop. The whole set laughed.”
Parineeti said the film was special because she met her now-husband Raghav Chadha during the shoot. When director Imtiaz Ali planned the shoot in Punjab, he met Raghav, who helped with permissions. That’s how they first met and later started dating.
On the last day of shooting, Parineeti got emotional. “After our last song, Imtiaz sir hugged me and said beautiful things. I cried a lot. Diljit teased me, and everyone became emotional. It felt like a family breaking apart.”
The toughest scene for Parineeti was the assassination sequence. She had to act dead, hold her breath, and keep her eyes open for many takes. “It was very uncomfortable, but seeing the final shot gave me goosebumps,” she said.
Parineeti gained 16 kg for the role, while Diljit had a tan. Both were often uncomfortable with their looks, so during breaks, they did fun photoshoots as themselves. “There are so many pictures where we are Chamkila and Amarjot, but acting like Parineeti and Diljit,” she laughed.
Amar Singh Chamkila is a biographical drama about the life of singer Amar Singh Chamkila. Diljit played Chamkila, and Parineeti played his second wife, Amarjot. The film was critically acclaimed, nominated for International Emmy Awards for Best TV Movie/Miniseries and Best Actor (Diljit Dosanjh).
