The 2025 Indian Premier League has just started, and the first controversy is already here. During the match between Gujarat Titans and Punjab Kings on Tuesday, Punjab’s Shreyas Iyer was left stranded at 97 runs in his debut for the team.
Punjab Kings’ co-owner, actress Preity Zinta, shared her thoughts on social media. She praised Iyer’s performance despite missing out on his century. Sharing pictures from the game, Preity wrote, “Some 97s are better than a hundred. Take a bow @ShreyasIyer15 for showing class, leadership & aggression. Loved how the team played as a unit!”
Fans were upset that Iyer did not get the strike in the last over, but later, he revealed that he had told Shashank to focus on scoring quick runs and not worry about his century.
