Actor Jacqueline Fernandez has faced a setback as the Supreme Court refused to cancel the ₹215-crore money laundering case against her. The case is linked to alleged conman Sukesh Chandrashekhar.
Jacqueline had earlier requested the court to stop the trial, but the judges dismissed her plea. However, she has been given the option to approach the court later at the right stage.
The case is based on the allegation that Jacqueline received expensive gifts from Sukesh, who is accused of cheating Aditi Singh, wife of businessman Shivinder Mohan Singh, of ₹200 crore.
The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has named Jacqueline as a co-accused in the case, while she maintains her innocence. Earlier, she was granted bail by a trial court but the investigation is still ongoing.
