Vidya Balan’s rise to fame began with a story that sounds straight out of a movie. The talented actor, known for her strong performances, recently shared how she got her first big break in Bollywood — during an Enrique Iglesias concert in Mumbai.
Vidya revealed that she was at the concert with her friend Pavitra when director Pradeep Sarkar called to offer her the film Parineeta. Her phone was off because of the loud music, so he called Pavitra instead. When she finally spoke to him, producer Vidhu Vinod Chopra came on the line and said, “Vidya Balan, you are my Parineeta.”
At that very moment, Enrique started singing Hero, one of Vidya’s favorite songs. She said she couldn’t stop crying as she realized her dream was coming true. “It’s one of the most special moments of my life,” she shared.
Vidya joked that since she got her break at Enrique’s concert, his upcoming performance in Mumbai feels like destiny. “It’s like he’s coming back to celebrate my 20 years in the movies,” she laughed. If she could dedicate one song to Enrique, she said it would be Piyu Bole from Parineeta — her debut film.
Enrique Iglesias will perform in Mumbai on October 29 and 30 at the MMRDA Grounds, marking his return to India after 13 years.
