Bhool Chuk Maaf Review: Time Loops, Few Laughs

Bhool Chuk Maaf stars Rajkummar Rao and Wamiqa Gabbi as a small-town couple stuck in a strange time loop. The movie starts with Ranjan (Rajkummar) wanting to marry Titli (Wamiqa), but her father says no wedding without a government job. Ranjan quickly gets one through Bhagwaan Das (Sanjay Mishra), but on the day of his haldi, time freezes—he wakes up to the same day over and over again.

A Slow Start

The first half of the film drags. While the dialogues are sometimes funny, the story takes too long to get to the point. Even with Rajkummar’s usual comic timing, it feels like we’ve seen this setup before in other Maddock Films like Luka Chuppi or Mimi. The chemistry among family members doesn’t really work, and the laughs don’t come easily.

Slight Improvement in the Second Half

After the interval, the story finally moves, and the chemistry between the lead pair improves. But the humor still doesn’t flow naturally. Rajkummar’s usual “frustrated funny guy” act is starting to feel overused. The movie tries to send a social message in the end, which feels forced. Audiences came expecting a fun comedy, not a lecture.

Performances

Rajkummar Rao sticks to his usual small-town hero role, which is getting a bit repetitive. Wamiqa Gabbi is charming and plays her role well. Sanjay Mishra and Raghubeer Yadav also do a decent job.

Music & Final Thoughts

The music by Tanishk Bagchi is okay but nothing memorable. Overall, Bhool Chuk Maaf is a comedy that tries too hard. It loops through clichés, mixes social messages with jokes, and forgets to just be funny.

Verdict: You won’t miss much if you skip this one.
