Comedian Cyrus Broacha has spoken out in support of Samay Raina and Ranveer Allahbadia amid the controversy surrounding their show, India’s Got Latent. Speaking at an ABP News event, Cyrus criticized how the two are being treated “like common criminals.”
Cyrus questioned the backlash, saying, “In India, words like ‘Parampara’ (tradition) and ‘Sanskriti’ (culture) are overused. Morality is different for everyone… If everything is on the internet, how bad is this?” He argued that the legal action against Samay and Ranveer was too harsh, adding, “This is a roast show. It’s inspired by Tony Hinchcliffe’s Kill Tony. Their careers shouldn’t be affected like this.”
India’s Got Latent, created by Samay Raina, faced backlash after podcaster Ranveer Allahbadia made a joke about parents having sex on the latest episode. This led to multiple FIRs against them and other panellists. Samay deleted all episodes from YouTube. The Supreme Court also criticized Ranveer and took his passport as the investigation continues.
