YouTuber Ranveer Allahbadia recently got into trouble for making an inappropriate remark during a members-only episode of India’s Got Latent. His comment was widely criticized on social media for being offensive.
During the episode, Ranveer asked a contestant an inappropriate question, which sparked outrage. Many people called him out for making a joke that was disrespectful and offensive.
Ranveer posted a video apology on social media soon after the controversy. He admitted that his comment was wrong and said, “Comedy is not my forte. I had a lapse in judgment.” However, many were still upset and demanded action.
On Friday, Ranveer and influencer Apoorva Mukhija appeared before the National Commission for Women (NCW). They were questioned for hours and submitted written apologies. Ranveer assured the panel that this was the first and last time he would make such a mistake. He added, “From now on, I will think carefully and speak with respect toward women.”
NCW Chairperson Vijaya Rahatkar stated that inappropriate language would not be tolerated. She emphasized that such remarks are “simply not acceptable.”
Ranveer has now promised to be more mindful of his words and avoid such mistakes in the future.
