Universal has been quiet about Fast & Furious 11, and the original plan for an April 2025 release now seems unlikely. Director Louis Leterrier confirmed that filming won’t start until January 2025, with pre-production beginning in September 2024. This delay means the film will now release in 2026, marking 25 years since the first Fast & Furious movie came out in June 2001.
Leterrier also shared that Fast 11 will take a “back-to-basics” approach, focusing on Los Angeles like the first film. It will be the last main movie in the Fast & Furious series, though spin-offs like Hobbs & Reyes, starring Dwayne Johnson and Jason Momoa, are in development.
The new film aims to bring the franchise full circle, with a return to its roots in the action-packed city of Los Angeles.
