The Last of Us Season 2 is getting lots of praise. Actress Kaitlyn Dever, who plays Abby this season, shared that she filmed a very emotional murder scene just three days after her mother’s funeral.
In a recent interview, Kaitlyn said her first scene was a tough one — where Abby kills Joel (played by Pedro Pascal). This moment was shocking for viewers who didn’t know the story from the video game. Kaitlyn explained that it was very hard for her because she had just lost her mother. She said, “I was in a daze.”
Kaitlyn’s mother had been fighting breast cancer for 14 years before passing away in February 2024. Kaitlyn said the days leading up to filming were very painful.
The team behind The Last of Us took care of her by adjusting the schedule. They let her pick the day she was ready to film the big scene. They also kept the set private with only the important crew members there to support her.
