Bhog, the new Hoichoi Original series directed by Parambrata Chattopadhyay, is a gripping horror drama that gives chills and keeps you hooked from start to end. Based on a short story by Avik Sarkar, this 6-episode thriller is full of mystery, emotions, and supernatural tension.
The series follows Atin (played by Anirban Bhattacharya), a sales professional from Kolkata who lives a quiet life. He lives with the help of Pushpa di, who promised his late mother to take care of him. Things seem normal until Atin finds a strange idol of a four-armed goddess in a friend’s shop. He feels a strange pull towards it and brings it home.
But things take a dark turn. The goddess appears in his dreams and demands an offering. Slowly, Atin starts losing control over his life. He becomes obsessed, even inviting a stranger named Damri (Parno Mittra) into his home.
The direction by Parambrata is detailed and atmospheric. The lighting and music add to the tension. The background score by Nabarun Bose is chilling and perfectly fits the mood. The screenplay by Shantanu Mitra Neogi adds depth to the original story, making it more relatable.
But the biggest strength is Anirban Bhattacharya’s acting. He brings out Atin’s confusion, fear, and slow downfall with amazing expression. His transformation feels real and haunting. A special scene with Subhasish Mukherjee also leaves a strong impact.
Bhog is more than just horror. It talks about faith, loneliness, and how belief can change a person. Atin’s journey is scary yet emotional. The series leaves you thinking — is faith a gift or a curse?
