Grihapravesh: Love, Loss & Freedom

Grihapravesh is a visually beautiful film that tells a deep and emotional story. Directed by Indraadip Dasgupta, the movie is set in an old North Kolkata mansion getting ready for Durga Puja. The house itself feels alive — full of history, tradition, and emotions.

The film looks stunning, with each shot carefully made. The changing colors show the changing feelings of Titli (played by Subhashree Ganguly), a young woman who is both welcomed and held back by her new family. She is married to Shaon (Suprovo Tagore), but their relationship feels distant. Her father-in-law, Apratim (Kaushik Ganguly), encourages her to start a homestay — a small act that opens the door to big changes.

When the first guest, Meghdoot (Jeetu Kamal), arrives, Titli starts feeling emotions she never expected. Meghdoot is a calm, silent man, but he awakens something in her. Subhashree’s performance is amazing — her eyes say everything.

The film also explores other relationships: the bond between Apratim and his nephew Bilu (Rudranil Ghosh), Bilu’s caring nature towards his aunt Sreemati (Sohini Sengupta), and Apratim’s growth as he tries to change old habits and thinking. Shaon’s character is played with deep emotion by Suprovo Tagore.

Music plays a big role in the film. Songs like Meghpeon and Golpo Holo Suru add depth and emotion to the story.

Though the second half of the film feels a bit slow, Grihapravesh is a gentle and powerful movie about love, freedom, and choosing yourself. It’s not loud or dramatic — it’s about quiet changes that come from the heart.
