Suriya’s Kanguva promised to be a cinematic spectacle, blending the past and present in an action-packed drama. With grand claims from the team, including a ₹2000 crore goal, expectations were sky-high. But did Kanguva deliver? Not quite.
The story follows Francis (Suriya), a bounty hunter in 2024, whose past as a prince named Kanga unfolds in parallel. Kanga battles invaders, including the sinister Udhiran (Bobby Deol). While the premise is solid, the film falters due to underdeveloped ideas, a messy screenplay, and inconsistent dialogue choices. The first 20 minutes feel like a meme-filled Instagram reel, and while the period portions show promise, they lack depth.
Suriya shines with his performance, holding the film together, but Bobby Deol and Disha Patani are underutilized. The loud and chaotic soundtrack only adds to the overwhelming experience, making you long for silence.
Visually stunning, but overall Kanguva is a missed opportunity. With more focus on the characters and story, this film could have been a game-changer.
