For years, Panchayat stood out among Indian web series. While most shows focused on crime and violence, Panchayat gave us something refreshing – a simple story about a Panchayat secretary living in the village of Phulera. It felt real, heartwarming, and relatable. But sadly, with Season 4, that charm seems to be fading.
The new season begins shortly after Season 3 ends. Elections are coming to Phulera. Manju Devi (Neena Gupta) and Pradhan Ji (Raghubir Yadav) face a strong challenge from Bhushan and Kranti Devi (Durgesh Kumar and Sunita Rajwar). Abhishek (Jitendra Kumar), who once tried to stay neutral, is now fully supporting Manju’s team.
Unlike the earlier seasons, which focused on everyday village life, Season 4 dives deep into politics. The plot becomes more about power struggles and less about real emotions and day-to-day village moments. The light-hearted and relatable stories are replaced with political drama and repeated ideas. It feels like the show is following a formula now.
Pradhan Ji’s character suffers the most. He was once shown as a smart yet kind leader, which made Abhishek trust him. But this season, he feels more like just another politician who’s desperate to stay in power. Instead of growing his character, the show weakens him.
Bhushan and Kranti Devi are shown as typical villains with loud background music – making them less human and more like cartoons. The show missed a chance to explore both sides in a balanced way.
Panchayat Season 4 brings back familiar faces, but loses the soul of the story. The politics take over the emotions, and the originality that made the show so special seems to be gone.
