Vikrant Massey’s The Sabarmati Report, based on the 2002 Godhra train burning incident, showed a steady but slightly slower growth at the box office. The film earned ₹3 crore on Sunday, improving from ₹2.1 crore on Saturday and ₹1.25 crore on its opening day, bringing the total to ₹6.35 crore for the weekend.
While it gave Vikrant his biggest opening yet, it still lagged behind his sleeper hit 12th Fail, which had an opening weekend collection of ₹6.74 crore. Despite being the only Bollywood release last week, the film faces competition from Suriya’s Kanguva and Ridley Scott’s Gladiator II.
Even PM Modi praised the movie, saying, “A fake narrative can persist only for a limited period of time. Eventually, the facts will always come out!”
