Sarzameen Review: Kajol And Ibrahim Ali Khan’s Film Falls Flat

Sarzameen tries to be a powerful drama, but ends up being a boring mess. Directed by Kayoze Irani, the film stars Ibrahim Ali Khan, Kajol, and Prithviraj Sukumaran. Despite a strong cast, nothing really works—not the acting, not the emotions, not even the story.

The plot follows Colonel Vijay Menon (Prithviraj), who lives with his wife Meher (Kajol) and son Harman (Ibrahim) in Kashmir. Vijay is embarrassed by his son’s stutter and doesn’t support him. One day, terrorists kidnap Harman and demand the release of prisoners. Vijay puts duty first, and Harman is assumed dead. But years later, a young man claiming to be Harman returns. Is it really him?

The idea sounds emotional, but the film has no real feeling. The first half creates some mystery, but the second half is slow and full of overacting. The story could have made people cry, but instead, it feels empty.

Acting & Performances:
Ibrahim looks good but struggles to act. His lines are few, and even in serious scenes, he seems lost. Kajol, known for her emotional roles, feels dull here. Prithviraj plays a flat character who’s either angry or sad—nothing in between. The chemistry between the family feels fake. Even special appearances by actors like Boman Irani add nothing.

Music & Writing:
The music by Vishal Mishra is forgettable. The script is weak and the direction lacks depth. Nothing stands out except the names on the poster.

Final Verdict:
Sarzameen had the potential to be an emotional story of loss and love, but ends up being a snoozefest. It feels like a typical OTT release—rushed, flat, and disappointing.
