Filmmaker Aditya Dhar’s action thriller Dhurandhar has become the highest-grossing Indian film overseas in 2025, earning $27.5 million in 26 days. The Ranveer Singh-starrer earned $17 million from North America alone and has collected ₹1,101 crore globally.
However, the film could have made more money if it had been released in the Middle East. Countries like Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the UAE banned the movie. According to distributor Parnab Kapadia, this caused a loss of around $10 million (₹90 crore).
Parnab explained that action films usually do very well in the Middle East, and Dhurandhar missed out on that market. Despite the ban, the film reached audiences in other countries, helped by the December holiday season, when many people from the Middle East travel to Europe or the US and watched the film there.
Dhurandhar stars Ranveer Singh as Hamza, an Indian spy infiltrating a gang in Pakistan to pass intelligence to RAW. The film also features Akshaye Khanna, Arjun Rampal, R. Madhavan, and Sanjay Dutt.
Fans are eagerly waiting for the sequel, scheduled to release on March 19, 2026, which will clash with Yash’s Toxic: A Fairytale for Grown-Ups.
