Kanguva, also known as The Man with the Power of Fire, is an upcoming Indian fantasy action film directed by Siva, starring Suriya, Bobby Deol, and Disha Patani. With a massive budget of ₹300–350 crore, it is one of the most expensive Indian films ever made. The movie is set to release on November 14, 2024, in Tamil and dubbed versions in multiple languages, including Telugu, Hindi, Malayalam, and Kannada.
The film follows Suriya’s character, Kanguva, and features an extensive cast, including Bobby Deol as the antagonist Udhiran and Disha Patani in her Tamil debut. Suriya will appear in 13 different looks, with the story set across multiple timelines, adding depth to the narrative. Bobby Deol’s challenging role marks his Tamil debut, while Patani’s inclusion adds star power to the ensemble.
Production was initially delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic and was relaunched in 2022. The film was shot across various locations, including Chennai, Goa, Kerala, Kodaikanal, and Rajahmundry. The technical crew includes Devi Sri Prasad as the music composer, Vetri Palanisamy as the cinematographer, and Nishadh Yusuf as the editor.
Post-production began in 2023, with extensive visual effects work being carried out by international teams. The film’s first single, “Fire Song,” released on July 23, 2024, has already gained traction among fans.
Kanguva is set to release in 3D, 2D, and IMAX formats, aiming for a broad international reach. Its pre-release business has already crossed ₹500 crore, making it one of the most anticipated Indian films of the year.
