The Delhi High Court had asked the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) to review the worries raised by the parents of Ashoka Chakra awardee Major Mohit Sharma. After watching the film Dhurandhar again, the CBFC has clearly said that the movie has no connection to Major Sharma’s life.
On December 1, 2025, the Court told CBFC to check if the movie in any way shows or copies Major Sharma’s life. After the fresh review, the Board confirmed that Dhurandhar is fully fictional and does not resemble his real life, work, or experiences.
The CBFC checked whether the film shows anything related to Major Sharma, even indirectly. They stated that:
The Examining Committee had earlier watched the film on November 28, 2025, and found it fit for adult viewers with some small cuts. Even after looking again, CBFC found no reason to change that decision.
During the High Court hearing, CBFC said the certification process was still ongoing. The Court also said CBFC could ask the Indian Army if needed.
But after reviewing the film again, CBFC said there is no need for Army advice because the film does not show any real Army officer or mission.
Major Sharma’s parents felt that the film was being promoted as “inspired by true events” and might look similar to his life. They were worried it could hurt his dignity or show military missions incorrectly.
The filmmakers denied this and said the story is totally fictional.
Dhurandhar is a Hindi spy-action movie directed by Aditya Dhar.

With the CBFC review complete and objections rejected, the certification will now move forward
