Varun Dhawan and Janhvi Kapoor’s film Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari is having a tough run at the box office. The romantic comedy, also starring Rohit Saraf and Sanya Malhotra, opened on October 2 with mixed reviews and has not been able to live up to expectations.
On Day 7, the film earned only ₹2.08 crore, the lowest single-day earning so far. With this, the total collection now stands at ₹38.58 crore. The first weekend showed some growth, with collections of ₹9.25 crore on Day 1, followed by ₹5.5 crore, ₹7.5 crore, and ₹7.75 crore in the next three days. However, the numbers dropped during weekdays, making it hard for the film to cross the ₹50 crore mark.
At the same time, the film is facing tough competition from Rishab Shetty’s Kantara: Chapter 1, which is performing strongly and has become a blockbuster.
The story follows Sunny (Varun Dhawan) and Tulsi (Janhvi Kapoor), who pretend to be a couple to make their ex-partners jealous—Ananya (Sanya Malhotra) and Vikram (Rohit Saraf). This leads to a series of funny twists and misunderstandings. Directed by Shashank Khaitan and produced by Dharma Productions, the film also features Akshay Oberoi, Maneish Paul, and Abhinav Sharma.
The film had a glamorous cast and light-hearted storyline but hasn’t managed to pull big numbers at the box office in its first week.
