Rapper and songwriter Tulisa, known for her time with N-Dubz and as a judge on The X Factor UK, shocked fans on Thursday when she revealed that she is demiromantic. The 36-year-old musician, currently appearing on I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here!, got candid about her unique romantic feelings on the show.
In a conversation with a fellow contestant, Tulisa shared, “I feel like I’m demiromantic; I need a really close emotional connection with someone to feel attracted. I’m a slow, slow burner. I’ve been celibate for over three years.” She went on to explain that, for her, relationships are about deep emotional bonds, not physical attraction. “I’m not an overly sexualized person… I want to connect with someone emotionally first, and then express that connection,” she said.
Tulisa also opened up about her experience on Raya, a celebrity dating app. She admitted that the thought of dating “genuinely makes me feel physically sick.”
Demisexuality is defined as someone who only feels romantic attraction after forming a deep emotional bond with a person. It’s a part of the asexuality spectrum and differs from typical attractions based on appearance or first impressions.
