Yash Raj Films (YRF) is facing a tough time with its big release War 2. The film, starring Hrithik Roshan and Jr NTR, was expected to be a blockbuster, but it has failed to meet box office expectations.
The movie had a massive budget of around ₹400 crore but has collected just about ₹200 crore in India during its first week. The Telugu version performed even worse, earning only ₹52 crore so far, with daily collections dropping below ₹1 crore.
Producer and distributor Naga Vamsi, who bought the Telugu rights of War 2 for ₹80 crore, was expecting big profits, especially with stars like Hrithik and Jr NTR leading the film. However, the poor performance led to heavy losses.
To make up for this, YRF has reportedly offered ₹22 crore as compensation to Naga Vamsi. The payout has been divided as ₹10 crore for Nizam, ₹7 crore for Andhra, and ₹5 crore for Ceded regions.
Despite this setback, the Hindi version of War 2 has done relatively better, earning ₹150 crore so far. But overall, the film has failed to become the pan-India hit YRF was hoping for. The movie is part of YRF’s ambitious Spy Universe and also stars Kiara Advani.
